During the summer between freshman year, and sophomore year to a sea turtle camp. At this camp we would go to a sea turtle hospital and take care of the injured sea turtles that were brought in. Most of the sea turtles that went there would end up getting released back into the wild, but some of the turtles had to remain in the sea turtle hospital. While we where there I learned how to clean out their tanks, what foods to give to the recovering turtles, and other things like that.
When I was there for my two weeks I learned many other things about the turtles and their environments. I also learned and witnessed how a sea turtle lays their eggs in the sand. It was around 1 in the morning when we were woken up and taken down to the beach. When we got down to the beach we saw the mother turtle crawl up onto the shore and dig a hole in the sand. Once she was done laying her eggs she buried them and then crawled back into the ocean. This process took about a hour and a half to complete. Due to the fact that the eggs were laid to close to the water they were dug back up and carried up farther away from the water and reburied. Any Thoughts?
